Heat loads in inboard limited L-mode plasmas in TCV
نویسنده
چکیده
Infrared thermography is used in TCV to measure the heat flux deposited onto the graphite tiles of the inner wall. The heat flux radial profile is found to be well described by the sum of a main parallel component and a non negligible cross-field component. The latter accounts for about 20% of the deposited heat flux. The parallel component shows an enhancement around the contact point in all discharges under consideration. Main plasma parameters, such as density, current, elongation and triangularity have been varied, allowing for empirical scalings of the heat fluxes. 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Indirect measurement of poloidal rotation using inboard–outboard asymmetry of toroidal rotation and comparison with neoclassical predictions
An alternative experimental spectroscopic measurement of poloidal plasma rotation in toroidally confined plasmas is proven effective in the TCV tokamak. Charge exchange recombination measurements of the toroidal rotation profile over the full mid-plane plasma diameter are used to infer the complete bi-dimensional flow structure of the intrinsic C6+ impurity, which includes its poloidal componen...

In the Tore Supra tokamak, the scrape-off layer profiles of discharges limited either on the inboard or on the outboard side are compared. Inboard-limited discharges are characterized by substantially longer SOL e-folding lengths of ion and electron temperatures and electron density measured near the top of the plasma, providing strong evidence that the ion and electron energy transport across ...
متن کاملImpact of Plasma Shaping on Electron Heat Transport in TCV L-mode Plasmas at Various Collisionalities
The impact of plasma shaping on electron heat transport is investigated in TCV L-mode plasmas. The study is motivated by the observation of an increase of the energy confinement time with decreasing plasma triangularity that may not be explained by a change in the temperature gradient induced by changes in the geometry of the flux surfaces. The plasma triangularity is varied over a wide range, ...

Controlled nuclear fusion is the most promising candidate for being an inexhaustible, clean and intrinsically safe energy source. Research in the last 60 years has focused on the fusion reactor concept called tokamak, in which a high temperature plasma is confined using magnetic fields, producing fusion reactions. Because of turbulence, the confined plasma diffuses to the outermost region of th...

TCV is acquiring a new 1 MW neutral beam and 2 MW additional thirdharmonic ECRH to expand its operational range. Its existing shaping and ECRH launching versatility was amply exploited in an eclectic 2013 campaign. A new sub-ms real-time equilibrium reconstruction code was used in ECRH control of NTMs and in a prototype shape controller. The detection of visible light from the plasma boundary w...
